As a lifelong Washingtonian and dedicated public servant, Davis is committed to elevating every voice and ensuring the city’s future reflects the promise of equity, safety, and shared prosperity.
“I’ve devoted nearly two decades to serving the children and families of our community — as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and education leader,” Davis said. “Now, I’m ready to bring that same commitment to the Council, where we will push for inclusive policies that support families, grow economic opportunity, and build thriving neighborhoods for all.”
A Proven Leader for D.C. Families
Dwight Davis has deep roots in the District of Columbia and a long track record of leadership that centers people and community:
- A native Washingtonian and graduate of DC Public Schools who lived the challenges of our city’s education system and went on to strengthen it.
- Nearly 20 years of experience in public education, serving as a fifth-grade teacher, English/language arts coach, assistant principal, and principal — bringing insight and empathy to every role.
- Recognized nationally as a Mary Jane Patterson Fellow and CityBridge Education Innovation Fellow, Davis blends community experience with cutting-edge educational leadership.
- Served with distinction on the DC Public Charter School Board, where colleagues praised his “student-centered approach” and commitment to excellence.
